Cities: Marrakech
Marrakech is one of the most visited cities in Morocco, known for its mix of history, color, and daily life that never really slows down. At the center of the city, you’ll find Jemaa el-Fnaa, a large square that changes from morning to night. During the day it’s calmer, but in the evening it fills with street food stalls, performers, and crowds. Around it, the old medina is full of narrow streets, markets, and traditional riads. Places like Koutoubia Mosque and Bahia Palace show the city’s history, while the souks give a more local and busy experience where you can find everything from spices to handmade goods.
Outside the old medina, Marrakech has a more modern side with wide roads, cafés, and newer hotels. Areas like Gueliz offer a different vibe, more relaxed and easier to navigate, especially for travelers who prefer comfort over chaos. The city also has quiet spots like Majorelle Garden, which gives a break from the noise and heat. When it comes to staying, Marrakech has everything from cheap hostels to luxury riads with pools and courtyards. It works well for short stays or longer trips, and it’s also a good base if you want to explore nearby places like the Atlas Mountains or the desert.
